Best Overall Caches

What makes a good cache?  It's a combination of location, hiding technique, surprise, and a feeling that the search was worthwhile.  Good caches are the ones you tell your friends about.  These caches are the best I have found.

Massachusetts

GCB9F - Cat Rock 3D - Weston, MA

Two good hiding places, a unique cache container, and an innovative 3D camera makes for a rewarding search.

GC31DE - The Depot - Needham, MA

This is a good one to visit with kids.  An easy hike to a  magical location.  The friendly cache owner is often around.

GC304 - Mesozoic One (and others nearby) - Milton, MA

If you like hills, spend the day finding the three caches located in the Blue Hills south of Boston.  Pick up a trail map at the Nature Center. And check out the Blue Hill Observatory at the peak. The nearby Kid Kit cache (GC5C8E) is a short, flat, easy hike.  For hilltop views north of Boston, check out Breakheart Redux (GC1995) and Boston Hill (GC3C7).

GC5138 -Historic Saxonville - Framingham, MA

This cache is different; a combination of urban and rural.  First explore a small mill village, gathering clues that provide the coordinates of the cache.  Then hike the nature trail to find it.

GC111A - How Many Roads - Kingston, MA

A quick drive-by cache on the South Shore guaranteed to  make you smile.

Rhode Island

GC375D - War Tour - Jamestown, RI

Avoid the Newport crowds and visit Jamestown just across the bay.  The War Tour takes you to the best coastal cliff-side viewpoints.  Stop at the tricky Suspense cache (GC2769) along the way.

GC5DB2 - Two If By Sea - Point Judith, RI

Coastal Rhode Island at its best. There's more to Point Judith than the Block Island ferry.  Plan on spending the afternoon, searching for its three caches.

GC60F7 - Tarbox Pond - West Greenwich, RI

Rhode Island's pine forests are a pleasure to hike. The trails feel padded, the air scented, the woods not too dense.  This cache and nearby Toaster Head (GC6507) are two good examples.

GC2342 - Magnificent Mile Cache - Rockville, RI

There is a surprisingly large amount of undeveloped land and state forest in the western part of the state.  This is one cache that lives up to its name.

GC588C - Weetamoo Woods - Tiverton, RI

The southeast corner of Rhode Island is farm country.  This cache takes you past the remains of an early saw mill.  Afterwards, discover the arts, antiques and ice cream in nearby Tiverton Four Corners.  Complete your day with a tour of the Sakonnet Vineyards
