My first cache in Rhode Island was the first cache in Rhode Island.  Like First Mass, this cache was showing its age.  The logbook was full, the camera empty.

The sea

Located at the point, surrounded on two sides by water, are several monuments to lost seafarers.

 

 The Desert

A short distance away, firepits, scrub brush and dried grass make the area feel more like New Mexico than Newport.
The Cache Plenty of open sky made for an easy find; just follow the GPS pointer.  I returned Mr. Potato head from the Pine Hill's Friend cache to his home state. (HASBRO is based in Rhode Island.) I took the lighthouse wind chime for my nautical cache. Also left 2 six-packs of CacheCards.
