GC2E42 -- Swiss Family Robinson -- Needham, MA14 Mar 2002 Fourth of four caches today and definitely the hardest. The GPS gods were uncooperative placing most of the satellites on the horizon. This is a two part cache. First you must find a film canister hidden in a dead tree. It contains the coordinates to the real cache. However, storms have knocked down many of the dead trees, including the one holding the canister! It was only by luck that I found it buried in the soil. I returned it to where I found it, but to help fellow geocachers, I placed a fist-sized stone on top of it. There are few stones in the immediate area. Here's a photo if you need it. |

The second part is easy to find if you know the story of Swiss Family Robinson. |
More weirdness in the woods. And nearby at N 42° 16.31 W 071° 16.42 is the site of a former Nike missile base.

I
took a small Matchbox boat and left CacheCards and batteries to appease
the GPS gods. Click here to see how this clever cache was hidden. |
